PRIVACY Notice

I'm a paragraph. Click here to add your own text and edit me. It's easy.

A certain amount of personal data is collected by me for every client. This is to enable me to offer professional and appropriate therapy, to maintain the standards of the British Association for Behavioural and  Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP)  and to meet insurance and income tax requirements.

All information gathered by me is confidential and will not be shared with a third party without your expressed consent, unless there are concerns about your safety or the safety of others.

Information submitted in paper form will stored securely in filing cabinets and destroyed securely once it has been added to your electronic record which is also stored securely using One Drive platform.

If you wish to alter any of your data, review how it is used or wish to request its return to you, please contact me at cheryl_price@outlook.com.

You may, of course, decline to submit personally identifiable information to me, however I may not be able to provide certain services to you. See below for details of how I use your information and how this assists me in providing services to you.

Phone Numbers/ Emails for practical arrangements

If you provide it, I may retain your telephone number and email in my contacts section of my phone and in my I-phone contacts and Outlook contacts lists.  This will be for the purposes of contacting you in relation to organising sessions.

Use of Email for contact in addition to practical arrangements

It is up to you whether you choose to receive and send back emails relating to homework. Studies have found that engagement in in between session tasks (homework) leads to vastly improved outcomes for clients engaging in CBT based therapies. However some people are not confident with the security of email exchange and may choose not to engage in further communication outside of the session about difficulties and work being done, as this information may be of a sensitive and personal nature. Should you wish to receive and send on homework via email, an extra layer of security can be added by assigning a password unique to you. All personal homework tasks will be sent as word documents protected using the pre-agreed password. You can send back your work as a Word document using the same password. Please note it is not possible to password protect any links and other types of document sent although efforts will be made to put everything within the password protected Word document to maximise your security.

Your permission to send and receive homework emails will be sought before any emails are exchanged detailing anything beyond the basics of arranging an appointment

Emergency Contact Information

Your emergency contact information is collected solely for use in an emergency, should I need to contact your next of kin or give this information to the emergency services. In the event of a serious emergency and for the purposes of your immediate safety, I may also need to share relevant additional information with medical or emergency services professionals. Your emergency contact information will be stored with your casefile on Onedrive. Please inform me if you wish me to update your emergency contact information at any time.

Notifying you of Changes to this Notice

If there is a change to my privacy notice or how I use your data I shall make you aware of this if you are in active therapy (e.g. have been seen within the last month). Details will also be posted here on my website.

Skype / Instant Messaging Appointments

Video and Instant Messaging sessions using the Skype platform are a convenient choice for many clients. Skype offers certain measures to enhance security such as Advanced Encryption Standards (AES) which means it is difficult for anyone to ‘hack’ into conversations. Although full, end to end encryption isn’t yet available through this application for video sessions. As with other websites, Cheryl Price cannot be responsible for the practices used by Microsoft (the company who own Skype). If you are very worried about personal security,  Skype appointments might not be for you and you may find it easier to focus in face to face sessions
